Written By – Aeneas MacKenzie, Jesse L Lasky Jr, Jack Gariss & Fredric M Frank ![]() Here is what I had to say while watching 1956’s “The Ten Commandments” If you have seen this film then let me know what you thought of it in the comments. This is more of a “Sunday afternoon” film where you have nothing to do, time to kill and just want to cross off a really long film of your movie bucket list. Overall, this is a film I would recommend, just not before you got to sleep for the night. Maybe the bad green screen effects but that’s being harsh considering when this was made and the technology they had at the time. I can’t think of any real negatives towards this film. I will give the film this as well, for a film that turns 55 next year some of the visuals and sets really stand out even if the costumes did make me question if that was how they actually dressed back in the day, especially with the headrests that Yul Brynner had to wear along with the side ponytails a few people had. It says on IMDB that this is a “Adventure & Drama” but I see this more as a biographic movie which it kinda is when you think about it. Again, there were bits that I questioned and got lost and confused about but I felt like the film did it’s best at trying to explain the history and life of Moses. Granted I got confused at parts and at one point did get Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner mixed up for one another but I felt like I was learning. Which is really annoying because I was actually enjoying this. Is it a film I’d recommend to watch late night? No! Is it a film I’d recommend any other time of day? Yes! Unfortunately, and part of the problem of buying DVD’s second hand, is that my copy skipped a good chunk and also is missing the entire second part of the film after the intermission. Going into this I thought to myself “Why did I pick this?” Why did I decide to watch a three and a half hour long on a Friday night while my internet is down? Why? Truthfully it’s because I drew a number out of a hat and that film was drawn. All of that I got from Wikipedia on my phone. Southon and The Book of Exodus, this religious adventure drama is about the life of Moses, an adopted Egyptian prince who becomes deliverer of his real brethren, the enslaved Hebrews, and thereafter leads The Exodus to Mount Sinai where he receives The Ten Commandments from God. Hurray for DVDs!Directed by Cecil B DeMille, and based on “Prince of Egypt” by Dorothy Clarke Wilson, “Pillar of Fire” by J.H. ![]() So, how am I going to kill the time while my internet recovers? By watching 1956’s “The Ten Commandments”! Yep… The perfect film to watch on a Friday night before going to bed the night of a local lockdown in my city. Yes, my internet is currently down and I have a really bad sleep schedule. Welcome to my newest movie review which I’m calling “My Internet is Down and All I Have Are Games That Don’t Appeal to Me and DVD’s I could watch” review.
